FAQ
Asked and Answered
I'm new to the world of EVs. What should I know about fast charging?
Fast chargers, also known as DC chargers, utilize direct current to provide rapid power. They are essential for long-distance travelers, rideshare drivers, and EV owners without home charging. A typical session lasts 20–45 minutes, with billing based on kilowatt-hours (kWh) dispensed. To maximize turnover and ensure charger availability, idle fees are applied once a vehicle reaches an adequate charge.
What makes an ideal location?
We look for sites near major thoroughfares that aren't already served by DC Fast Charging. Beyond a prime location, the charging stalls must be safe and easy to find, with nearby access to essential amenities like food, drinks, and restrooms.
What is required from the property owner to get a site operational?
While existing documents like as-builts are helpful, they are not required. To move forward, we ask property owners to manage tenant approvals for the parking area and handle the signing of the Georgia Power Make Ready LOI, lease agreement, and easement. Additionally, owners will need to review construction drawings and provide guidance on any specific site requirements during the build.
Does NextStep Charging only install Superchargers?
Our primary focus is installing Superchargers (Level 3 chargers), which are ideal for businesses where customers spend 20–45 minutes. However, we are happy to include Level 2 chargers if the property also hosts businesses with longer dwell times.
